My mom came with me Wednesday to take my kids to my sister. Did you know my sister is the greatest? Really. I don't think I know many people more willing, selfless and caring than her. How did I get so lucky? Nice little sissy poo kept my kids for a whompin 9 days. She seriously rocks. Now my mom is also pretty great herself. Not only did she drive down there with me, just so I didn't have to come home alone, but she also went and stayed with my sis a few days to hang out. Lucky girl I am.
We left at the crack of dawn...no it actually hadn't cracked, Thursday Jan 10th. {12:50 A.M.} It was really unique this time {especially compared to last time where I knew NO ONE} Our best friends Steve and Laura came {Steve is now a manager} and Phil's sister Missy won a competition among Pharmacy technicians and was able to come. She brought Phil's other sister Britton with her! SO COOL!
Ready to get the heck out of here!!!
We flew from Salt Lake to Atlanta where we had quite the layover. It was ok with me because we got to eat Qdoba {remember I love this place?} and I was able to paint my nails. ;) We arrived in San Juan Costa Rica just after noon. There we all immediately de-layered! haha
Phil caught a few zzzz's while in Atlanta
We had about an hour bus drive to La Paz Waterfal gardens. On the way we stopped by a little coffee shop that had exactly NO food and we were starving. :( I like none of the pictures from here because I am wearing Phil's glasses that are WAY too big for my face. But I did have to share one because it is special. When Pierce passed away a very kind neighbor gave us a beautiful arrangement of Hydrangea's. They are all over Costa Rica. I loved it because every time I saw them I thought of my little man.
When we got to the waterfall garden it was raining. Rain in places like this is seriously great. It was so thin you could hardly see it. Plus it was hot outside so no one really minded. This place was cool. We got to see so many birds, butterflies, monkeys, sloths, snakes etc and at the end a fabulous waterfall. Are these animals even real? The look like stuffed toys. :)
After finishing up here we had a 2 hour SCARY bus ride winding around mountains to our hotel in Arenal. We stayed at the beautiful Arenal Kioro Suites. It is right on the bottom of one of Costa Rica's active volcanoes. Seriously this was the view from our room...
Ah-mazing.
